Indian folk dancers feature prominently in artist Sonal Gandhi's series of paintings titled, Art n Alchemy

When dining out, the sole consideration is typically the food, but at Svenska, the hotel that also doubles as an art gallery, the food is often incidental.

Currently on display are the works of artist Sonal Gandhi, who is displaying a mini-series of abstracts, as well as a colourful interpretation of the folk dancersu00a0 including the performers from Rajasthan.

Sonal claims to enjoy working with different mediums her current exhibition is a mix of oil, acrylic, pencil works and charcoal. This, the artist explains, is also why the exhibition is titled, Art n Alchemy.


Sonal uses colour to depict rhythm in her paintings

"I have tried to portray the folk dancers of our country, and the colourful aspect of Indian festivals," says
Sonal, adding, "I love rhythm and use it my paintings."

The 45-year-old artist says that she discovered the muse for her latest exhibition on her travels. "Their huge white bangles stood out against the colourful background."


Sonal's paintings also include a mini series of abstracts

Besides her folk and abstract art paintings, Sonal has also incorporated landscapes in her series of above 25 paintings.
