If you want to possess a slice of history, check out Saffronart's online auction of Art Deco pieces. The exhibition will feature 96 lots and will include custom-made silver and glass accessories, tea service, a lady's desk, iron floor lamp and hoop armchairs among other items.u00a0
The highlight of the exhibition is a lady's vanity case which once belonged to a distinguished Indian lady, and was used as a travelling dresser during long cruise-liner voyages to Europe, extended stays at summer homes in the hills, and in luxury tents during the shikar or hunting season.
There are also three wristwatches from the estate of the late Maharani Padmavati Devi Gaekwar of Baroda and a Boucheron Cigarette case that once belonged to the late Maharaja Paramjeet Singh of Kapurthala. The bidding is also for a good cause as around 5% of the proceeds from the sale of select lots will fund Mumbai's nomination bid for UNESCO World Heritage status for its Victorian and Art-Deco precincts.
