While the change a baby's birth provides in the form of joy is immense, in the rush to meet with other changes, parents often miss out on priceless childhood moments.
Enter Peekaboo Babyu00a0-- an online boutique that offers pre-delivery and newborn baby portraiture as well as a special one-year service which includes thrice-a-year visits to capture your baby's growth (from birth till the baby turns one). The images are packaged into a stylish photo book and presented to the parents as a treasured keepsake.
Taking birth
Apart from capturing your infant's first photos, they offer birth announcement cards and gift packages such as fondue sets, chocolates, platters and wooden boxes to compliment the package. Their pre-birth and newborn gift certificates make for a perfect gift for newbie parents as it entitles them to a free photo shoot.
Childhood friends Minal Dhingra and Anagha Chokshi (both 31 year-old)
started Peekaboo Baby in November 2010. "With the birth of our nieces and nephews we went crazy clicking their photos. That's when we realised the need for professional photography exclusively for babies. It's a rage in the US and the UK. We decided to give it a try," said Minal, a former consultant at Ernst & Young. Her partner Anagha previously worked in the pharmaceutical industry.
Baby boom
Armed with a team of 10 photographers (sometimes, Anagha's husband Satyen also chips in), Peekaboo looks at capturing candid moments with natural lighting. Their website and Facebook page showcase different templates for shoots including props like hats, blankets, ribbons and tutus. They zeroed in on the name since they felt it aptly captured the playful moments of infants. The best part: their mini-shoots just take half an hour.

"We love to customise our services; we'll even visit hospitals to shoot newborn babies or drop by your home to shoot with your baby's favourite props," added Minal. Often photographers complain about the challenges involved in shooting with babies, but Minal doesn't think sou00a0-- "It's such fun at these shoots, you get to play with the babies and each shoot is an experience." Her most memorable shoot? Minal votes for a pre-delivery shoot of a mother posing with her favourite horse at the Mahalaxmi Race Course.
