Fashion designer Shivali Gawande (24) has just opened her first store, The Hive, at Wanowrie. "I stared designing for my friends at first and when they appreciated my designs, I decided to start a boutique of my own," she says. Gawande feels that her USP lies in the fact that her dresses are cheap as well as fashionable.
"The trends in Pune are changing a lot and youngsters are trying out and opting for Western outfits. I first designed a gown for myself and then a lace dress for my friend which was liked by all and that gave me the motivation to carry on," she added. Gawande is open to making customised dresses as well. She feels that Puneites are becoming more fashion conscious and brand conscious and they are looking for comfortable wear.u00a0
From here on, she is also thinking of branching out - "I'm planning to get into designing bags soon so that one can buy bags that complement the dresses exclusively at the boutique."
For shopaholics who are are not in town or too busy to come by, you can place an order and have your favourite goodies
delivered to your doorstep.u00a0Gawande admits that she advises people to wear apparel they are comfortable in as they will definitely look more appealing in it.u00a0
"The dresses at The Hive are priced very reasonably and are very comfortable to wear. One can find normal cotton dresses as well as party dresses here as per their needs. There are also shoes, bags as well as accessories that you can find along with beautiful dresses. They are affordable and some of them are priced at '500," she concludes.
