Check out an exhibition of film stills from classic movies dating back to 1913
Dominic and Richard Corda, art collectors from the city, are exhibiting pictures and film stills from 1913 to 2011. Their collection features over 350 original reproductions of film posters, original posters, lobby cards, paintings, stills and synopsis booklets. According to Dominic Corda, it's a dream come true. "I have more than 16,000 paintings as part of my collection. This particular collection is very close to my heart and I wanted to exhibit the collection but didn't have the financial support."
Movie buffs can come and watch some of their favourite films reproduced on canvas and check out the earlier promotional methods. The highlight of the exhibition will be the Mughal-e-Azam posters by G Kamle. "Gopalrao Kamle had got an assignment to captures the stills on canvas. We have got the entire collection on display. It's also a tribute to the great painter."
Corda is proud of the fact that he has got a chance to exhibit the collection in a city like Pune. "Puneites understand and appreciate art, culture and music. I once chanced upon a ten year-old boy explaining a painting to someone. It feels great when you see such awareness," he concludes.
