Shop for a worthy cause at this unique sale at Alliance Francaise Alliance Francaise is holding an exhibition in association with Ojus Medical Institute (OMI) and project Damini.
OMI is a charitable organisation that combines medical aid, education, advocacy, research and development, HIV medical care education and social support, child-care, education and women's empowerment and Damini's main aim is empowerment of women.
Neckpieces made by women from DaminiStarted in 1999 with ten underprivileged HIV + women further went on to include other women from the lower rungs of the society. The project now has around 3000 women working under it. It provides training in five municipal schools where women are trained to be beauticians, learn the application of mehendi and tailoring.
Women also learn embroidery, diya and pouch making during their training sessions. The organisation also conducts various awareness sessions on women's rights and health issues.
Products on sale are a result of these activities conducted under the guidance of designers and their sales help the organisation's cause. On sale are pouches, earrings, bracelets, neckpieces, diyas and mobile bands.
