Typically, one tends to associate boxers with chequered prints or block colours but a visit to online store The Boxer Store (TBS) will make you want to do a re-think.

Started in 2010 by 23-year-old Pallavi Khandelwal, the collection at TBS appears like a crash refresher course in re-inventing the boxer. "I was out shopping with my friend and noticed men had boring options, as far as boxers were concerned.

So I discussed with my friend the idea of setting up a boxer store. That's how TBS started," shares Khandelwal. Khandelwal, who is a Post Graduate in Finance and Investment was always interested in fashion and designs all the boxers on her own.

"I watch male-centric TV channels and ask my male friends to check out my designs. I also ask my female friends as a lot of women shop from TBS for gifting.

After reviewing I fix on the designs keeping in mind the current trends," says Khandelwal about her research for boxer styles and prints. "The Hukkah boxer, which was a result of one such trend is one of my best sellers," she adds.

Quiz her about her parents' reaction to this not-so-regular entrepreneurial idea and she says, "My parents, especially my dad was supportive of my venture. But a few people would remark, "Oh My God! You sell underwear for men!"

The two main categories of boxers available are knitted and woven. Khandelwal says that men prefer the woven ones. We loved their Who's Your Daddy boxer and the Basanti boxer that sports the famous line by actor Dharmendra in Sholay.


This boxer is bound to boost the male ego

In the knitted section, we warmed up to the Party Animal design section. Since lingerie remains a popular gift for brides-to-be, Khandelwal decided to go experimental and launched boxers for women that carried 'Bride To Be' logos on them.

We also liked their I love my boyfriend boxers. For women who don't prefer boxers, they also have pyjama sets with prints for the gossip-loving women and even for those who have a weak spot for teddy bears.
