Kalavardhini Charitable Trust (KCT) is back again with its annual dance festival featuring many leading dance exponents titled Parikramaa - a journey that never ends.u00a0"The aim of this festival is to spread the awareness about all classical 1dance forms and music, it's relevance in today's time, and of course, entertaining dance lovers," informs Dr Sucheta Chapekar, a renowned exponent and Guru of Bharatanatyam.

"Parikramaa is a dance festival which brings together the veteran dancers and musicians of today and tomorrow from all over India and abroad. It also generates new thought processes by way of symposium, which is an enriching group discussion with experts from the fields of music and dance. It takes into account not only the musicians, dancers and scholars, but also the rasikas (dance lovers)", adds Chapekar, who is also a Sangeet Natak Academy Awardee.
Apart from performances by renowned dancers, the festival will also include a presentation by young talented dancers and a symposium on important art related issues.u00a0The festival will begin with the âArghyam', a Bharatanatyam performance by Sayali, Pallavi, Ketaki, and Ashwini Ekbote, all disciples of Dr Sucheta Chapekar. This will be followed by âAbhivyakti', a Bharatanatyam performance by Urmila Satyanarayanan.
In December 2008, Kalavardhini celebrated the 60th birthday of its founder-mentor, Dr Chapekar, by launching the unique dance festival, Parikramaa. Since then this annual event has been much-looked forward to by Pune's dance enthusiasts.u00a0
For the last three years the average footfall per year at this festival has been around 2500-3000 and each year it is witnessing a greater response, with audience from all over including Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa attending this festival. u00a0"KCT aspires to host a dance festival that not only enthralls its audience, but also enriches them with scholastic contributions," pointed Chapekar.
