Mani's Lunch Home

Most eateries open new branches to being in more customers, but Mani's Lunch Home serves its Onam feast only at their Telang Road outlet. "The meal must be served on a banana leaf, with the end of the leaf on the left hand side. It should be eaten with hands. One has to follow the order of serving the dishes and each preparation is meant to be served on its designated space on the leaf," says KS Narayanaswamy, proprietor of the 75-year-old eatery. The 23-part feast includes 13 vegetables.

Rice Boat

"King Mahabali, in the memory of whom Keralites celebrate Onam, was known
for his generosity. Hence the feast has to be unlimited," says Archana Chitre, owner of Rice Boat. Rice Boat's Onam feast consists of 30 items that
includes different vegetables such as Cabbage Toran, Ginger Curry and dry potatoes other than Sambhar, Rasam, Avial, two types of Payasam, Unni Appam and jaggery coated banana chips.

Hotel Delux

"For twenty years now, we have been having our 29-item Onam feast. The unlimited feast includes almost nine different vegetables two Sukha Bhaji and people's favourite, Payasam," says Abdul Nazir Kakkodi, one of the owners of the restaurant. Known for serving traditional Kerala cuisine throughout the year, Delux's Rasam and Sambhar make for must-trys.
