Watch six contemporary French films at the upcoming French Film Festival to cater to film buffs in South Mumbai and the Western suburbs

After initial screenings in four cities, the French Film Festival will be in Mumbai this weekend. With an impressive list of six very recent French films, the festival, a part of Bonjour India, aims to showcase contemporary French Cinema, which doesn't usually find a place in the mainstream cinema complexes. The films will be screened over four days at two separate venues in the city starting from March 2.

The Festival opens with the film Populaire by Regis Roinsard

The line-up includes five feature films and one animation film, including France's Annual Film Awards, the Cesars, favourites Noemie Lvovsky's Camille Rewinds (nominated for thirteen awards) and Regis Roinsard's Populaire (nominated for five awards).

While Lvovksy's Camille Rewinds tells the story about a woman who goes back to her 1980s schooldays, Roinsard's, Populaire, also the opening film of the festival looks into the life of a young French girl, who runs away from home to make an independent career as a typist.

Still from Zarafa, animated film by Rémi Bezançon and Jean-Christophe Lie

Among other films to be screened at the festival includes Carine Tardieu's The Dandelions, an entertaining Franco-Jewish family saga set in the 1980s, François Ozon's In The House and French actress-turned-director Valérie Donzelli's film Hand in Hand.

The festival will also screen the animation film Zarafa by Rémi Bezançon and Jean-Christophe Lie. All films except Zarafa are open only for audiences above 18 years old.
