Over the next few days, Sonal Hall on Karve Road will host the Concern India Foundation's Pause for a Cause exhibition-cum-sale of traditional and contemporary textiles, clothing, jewellery and accessories.
As you enter the hall, you can check out authentic silver and gold jewellery as well as cotton dress materials and dupattas. The exhibition also features Kalamkaari, Block Print, Telia Roomal, Chikankari, Chanderi, Phulkaari, Mal, Kantha and Tussores. There will also be stone, kundan and gold and silver jewellery.
Participating in Pause for a Cause are upcoming designers such as Chetna Nanda, a Delhi-based jewellery designer. Chetna is displaying a diverse collection of contemporary one-of-a-kind jewellery with dazzling stones set in multi-coloured beads.
Chetna pointed out that her specialty is creating perfect wedding gifts for family and friends, birthday gifts for daughters and sisters, festive and even corporate gifts. "I cater to all age groups, all monetary segments, and all occasions and festivals. I use the latest techniques and utilise well-trained artisans to ensure that the clients get value for their buck," she said.
Also check out the gold and silver rings from Chetna's collection. The beaded items are handcrafted to give a touch of elegance. You can also find pendants that are priced from R800 onwards. The blue Kundan set has elegant earrings that cost Rs 75,000.
Shopaholics can check out the cotton salwar kurtas, tunics and organza saris, fine cotton block prints embellished with zardosi and aari embroidery, soft shimmering textiles with woven patterns, fine Mals , inlay patterning on dupattas in rich weaves, weavers ethnic (Kullu), kantha on saris and stoles.
All the participants will donate some portion of the money earned here to the NGO Concern India Foundation.
