Made by Micromax, Karbonn and Spice, the three phones come with impressive design and uniform hardware specs

On September 15, Google unveiled three of its first AndroidOne smartphones, which are now available for online purchase.
The three phones are Karbonn Sparkle V, Spice Dream UNO and the Micromax Canvas A1, all priced less than Rs 6,500.
AndroidOne is a programme by Google, which aims to achieve a uniform design philosophy and quality in AndroidOS phones offering its stock ROM (without any theme customisation from the manufacturers) and with hardware specifications, set by Google. This is also expected to make the phones run faster, and without any bugs, which has unfortunately been a reality with most Android smartphones across brands in India.
Micromax Canvas A1 is available on Amazon.in for Rs 6,499
What this means is that all the three phones not only look similar, but will also feature the same software and hardware.
All the three phones are dual sim, come with support for 3G, Wifi and Bluetooth 4.0; feature a 4.5-inch IPS display, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM (expandable up to 32GB) and run on a 1.3 GHz quadcore processor. The cameras are 2MP at the front and 5MP with flash on the back. The OS is Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat with guaranteed updates to the latest version of Android OS for the next two years, including Android L.

The three phones are also expected to give a better power backup, thanks to the 1700mAH battery in them. While the Spice Dream Uno is available for Rs 6,299 on Flipkart.com and comes only in black and white colours, the Karbonn Sparkle V is available in four different colours - magnum blue, mild grey, wild red and pearl white and is priced at Rs 6,399 on Snapdeal.com.
