A simple, easy-to-navigate websiteu00a0-- Foodzig.comu00a0-- hopes to ease people's woes by home-delivering exotic ingredients. So, if you plan to make a special dish, you don't have to skip from store to store looking for diverse ingredients. Set-up by Rishad Mehta, the website has an online ordering system whereby you can order cheese, meat and sweets from France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, UK, Norway and Canada.

On a casual browse of their website, we noticed that the range of products listed was quite limited. When we called them for additional details, they seemed quite unwilling to cooperate. Since the website was launched recently, we are surprised at their reluctance. We were told that they plan to re-launch the site and add additional features post which they might be willing to talk.

Nevertheless, we decided to go ahead and check out what's on offer. Foodzig.com is divided into five sections ufffd dairy, meat, seafood, sweets and specials. The list of dairy items ran into five pages, though all the products listed on the last two pages were marked as sold out (already?). The Chevere Log from France (Rs 2,610), Smoked Cheese (Slices) from Holland (Rs 390) and Blue Cheese Wheel from Denmark (Rs 3,265) were some of the gourmet products that caught our attention.

The meat section included Smoked Bacon from Spain (Rs 320), Chopped Ham from Denmark (Rs 410) and Chopped Pork from Spain (Rs 2,079). In the seafood section, we fancied the Classic Smoked Salmon from Norway (Rs 590) and in the sweets section, we were enticed by the Gourmet Dark Chocolate and Caramel Fondue from France (Rs 1,320).

The only deterrent was the astronomical prices. Though they offer only select products, we must admit that the pictures were highly tempting. Apart from the ones marked sold out, under each category they also have a section titled Limited, which indicates a limited stock.

As of now, Foodzig.com only delivers within Mumbai and does not accept credit cards. So, if you are in a rush to make a French salad or a Swiss dessert and don't mind shelling out Rs 149 as delivery charges, log on and place your order.
