Bloomberg has stated. This is one of the requests put forward by Apple to the Indian government before opening its manufacturing unit in India. Apple has stated that the refurbished iPhones will be available at a lower price as compared to the brand new models.

This is not the first time that Apple has put forward a proposal to sell used iPhones in India. The US based technology giant originally raised the request of making refurbished iPhones in India in 2016 itself, but the government rejected the proposal in the first instance. This is probably because the government does not want India to be a dumping ground or a manufucaturing hub of used electronics under its 'Made in India' banner.

If this time Indian government accepts Apple's proposal to sell used iPhones in India, then Apple will be the first company that will be given the permission to import and sell second hand devices in India.
