Despite impressive specs and a superb display, Karbonn’s Titanium Mach One fails to impress due to a poor battery

Karbonn

It's hard to detest a phone that looks as good as the Karbonn Titanium Mach One, until of course, you discover its poor battery life and lack of gorilla glass to protect the screen.

What we liked
At first glance, we were surprised to note the detailing in its slim design, and its solid build. From the front screen, to the control keys that come infused into the body, we liked what we saw. Competing with the looks was its 4.7-inch screen offering a resolution of 720x1280 and pixel density of 312ppi. It has a 1.3 Ghz quad core processor with Mali 400 GPU, which we found more than sufficient to meet most of our gaming needs.

The OS (currently KitKat 4.4.2) is also upgradable to Android Lollypop. The customised User interface gives the dual sim phone a premium feel. The cameras impress, too, as both - the front (5MP) as well as the rear (8MP) - support flash. The device has an in-built storage of 8GB and 1GB RAM, and supports external storage upto 32GB.

What we didn't like
At '6,990, the Mach One should have been a steal, right? We thought so too, until we witnessed the poor performance of the device's 1800 mAH battery. On 3G, the device lasts no longer than seven-eight hours on full charge. The lack of gorilla glass protection doesn't help the device either, an aspect that we feel will be a major drawback, especially keeping the cost of replacing a broken screen in mind. Overall, the Karbonn Titanium Mach One seems like an awesome device, but not a great companion for the long haul.
