It's easy to imagine that when music heavyweights Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, Dave Stewart, Damian Marley, and AR Rahman decided to form SuperHeavy, a band that aspires to dabble in genres as diverse as reggae and ballads, there would be managers, filmmakers and the ilk breaking their heads over apt music videos.

So it was no surprise that the job for thinking up the video of their latest track, Satyameva Jayate, was somewhat, outsourced. VH1 asked Indians to shoot and send in videos of their interpretations of the word truth (or satya). The ones that would be selected would be stringed together to create a video for the song.

In all, 500 entries were received, and the best of the lot were put together to create a video that saw its international release on Independence Day. It was a tough job for Ferzad Palia, head of VH1 and his team who had to watch hours of videos. "We came across a lot of interesting stories that the filmmakers wanted to tell.

In one, a soldier gives up his gun and picks up a guitar. Another is a tale told through the eyes of a child. It's always fulfilling to see viewers get involved in the music and be part of the process that will finally be aired nation-wide," says Palia.

The band was also reportedly involved in selecting the videos which would make the cut.u00a0The channel's honchos are now looking to implement this idea for local bands in the country. The outsourcing idea will work to promote the music of promising local bands. For more details, visit the channel's website.
