Maruti will shift the updated Ciaz, which will be launched in the first half of 2017, from its regular dealerships to premium Nexa Ones
Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce a mid-life update of the Ciaz in the first half of next year. The car was launched in October 2014. Our sources have confirmed that the 2017 Ciaz will be retailed from Maruti's premium Nexa range of dealerships alongside the Baleno, S Cross, and the upcoming Ignis and the Baleno RS.
If rumours are to be believed, the Ciaz will get an optional diesel engine borrowed from the S Cross. Yes, we are talking about Suzuki's 1.6-litre DDiS320, a.k.a Fiat's 1.6-litre MultiJet. The engine puts out 120PS of max power and 320Nm of peak torque, and will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission just like the S Cross. To put things into perspective, the Ciaz's primary rival - the Honda City - comes with a powerful diesel engine (100PS) coupled to a six-speed manual compared to Maruti's current 1.3-litre (90PS, five-speed manual) oil burner. Also, the upcoming next-gen Verna will carry forward the outgoing model's 1.6-litre diesel (128PS) paired with a six-speed manual. Moreover, Maruti is also planning to plonk a 1.5-litre petrol in the updated Ciaz.
Besides all this, expect the 2017 Ciaz to get aesthetic upgrades along with additional features such as daytime running LEDs and bi-xenon headlamps or even LED headlamps like the upcoming Ignis, among others.
