As compelling as the title sounds, it connects the cultural world of the West and the East with clips depicting events as varied as venom extraction (in pic), production of anti-anxiety drugs and the temples of South India.u00a0
The image and the symbolism of the snake is a recurring theme throughout the video and discusses the beliefs related to it in different cultures.
Commissioned by Centre Pompidou for its show Paris-Delhi-Bombay, the video has been shot in India and France. It is inspired by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung's idea of India being a dream-like world. Another influence is Sudhir Kakar's idea of our country as the unconscious of the West. Get bitten.
