On the night we visited Aroma Garden, everything that could have gone wrong had: Train services were hit due to faulty signals and our workday had been a stressful one.
When we finally located the entrance to Aroma Garden, we weren't sure we were at the right place, given how secluded it seemed. It was only on spotting the outdoor section that things brightened up considerably, as it was populated with families, contributing to the buzz of the place.
The family that eats together
The outdoor section was covered with tarpaulin sheets, but the comfortable wooden chairs, glass-topped tables and bamboo canopies helped contribute positively to the ambience. There was even a children's swing in one corner of the eatery that had English Pop songs playing in the background. So far, so good.
The menu included a mix of Mughlai, Continental and Oriental fare. We started with a Chicken Chakori Kebab (Rs 160) which was chicken breast stuffed with chicken mince and grilled in a tandoor. The flavour was authentic and we loved the spice combination of the succulent minced chicken.
To drink, we opted for the Fresh Lime Soda (Rs 60) which was refreshing. Next up, we ordered the Dabba Gosht (Rs 250) made with meat marinated in yoghurt and slow-cooked, and was a winner.
Trip to the Orient
Taking a cue from fellow diners, we opted for the Veg Thai Curry with rice (Rs 175) and Triple Rice Chicken (Rs 180). The green curry was mildly spicy and loaded with mushrooms. Perfect fare for a rainy day! The Triple Fried Rice was a tad sweet, but appetising.
Among their Continental offerings, we decided to give the Lasagne (Rs 225) a try. We loved it for the fact that it wasn't too cheesy, but yet tasted delicious.
By now, the enthusiastic attendants were politely hinting for us to hurry up. And so, we finally decided to end our meal with a Bavarian Choco Pie (R60) which was creamy chocolate over a piecrust made of biscuit. It was sinfully rich, but made for the perfect ending to a perfect meal.
