Singer Nikhil Dsouza will enthrall audiences at high spirits with his original compositions that combine pop sounds with folk elements
The voice behind some of the hits from Aisha and Anjana Anjani, Nikhil Dsouza, will be in Pune with his band members. The band, whose genre of music can be defined acoustic guitar-based pop/alternative with folk influences, is all set to play numbers that city music lovers have not heard before. Dsouza says, "I have an interesting band set-up. There is Vinay Logo (guitar), Gaurav Gupta (bass), Zohran Miranda (guitar) and Pune-based Varun Venkit (drums)."
He is equally excited about the line-up of songs and adds that sadly his fans will not get to hear either his Bollywood hits or his older hits. "The line-up will mostly include original songs that I have worked on over the last six months. I have performed these in Mumbai and now in Pune. I have been writing these songs since December and there is one called 'Boy who never knew' based on an unforgettable incident from his childhood while Little Green Man is a melodious track."
It's not just the band that is keeping him active but Dsouza is busy composing jingles and working on a couple of films. "I have recently worked for films such as Kucch Love Jaisa and Haunted. There are a few others about whom I cannot talk till they are ready."
So how does this twenty-plus musician manages his career? "You cannot earn much money from live shows so I have to work on jingles and Bollywood," he candidly admits.u00a0 His main influences have been Sting, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, and Damien Rice besides several others. We ask him about entering Bollywood as an actor but Dsouza says he is happy being a singer. "I do not want to get into acting as music is my ultimate love," he signs off.
