1. How does it feel to get nominated for the IAF International Designer Awards? Are awards important to you?
Getting nominated for awards is a proud feeling, always. It's a positive reception of my work and feels great to be recognised on an international scale. However, what is more important to me is the elation I get from doing what I do.

2. Indian designers are being recognised abroad, increasingly. Do you believe that this is a good time for Indian fashion?
It actually is a very good time for Indian fashion, and it is only going to expand in the international arena. Take this Spring Summer'13 season for instance. The New York Fashion Week showcased three internationally renowned designers (Matthew Williamson, Vera Wang and Marchesa) showcasing collections that were inspired by India. In fact, it is great to see fashion blend together on an international level - there are several designers of international origin who have made it big, internationally, with their collections being worn by celebrities on the red carpet worldwide. This goes to show that the possibilities are endless. I often showcase my lines internationally and I feel humbled by the wonderful response.
3. How are Indian designers better or where do they have an edge as compared to International designers?
As I always maintain, Indian designers have an edge when it comes to culture. We have a heap of culture to draw from; the versatility of style and sense of fashion in the country is one of a kind in the world. From north to north east, west to south, fashion and fashion sensibilities change drastically. This makes us very different from the rest. From a design perspective, it is brilliant because one gets to explore and experiment with looks and styles on a constant basis.
