The thrill of performing live has lured the veteran actor back to the stage after a two-decade hiatus

Surprise! Reema Lagoo has decided to return to Hindi theatre with Rishton Ka Live Telecast. She plays a mother who is trying to reduce the communication gap in her family.

The actress, who will be sharing the stage with Aanjjaan Srivastav in the play written and directed by Prasad Khandekar, says that the contemporary nature of the story attracted her. "It was not the role of a mother, but the fact that it focussed on a family that prompted me to act in the production. The play
throws light on issues which every individual will relate to in their day-to-day life," she explains

Insisting that the play is not her ‘comeback' to Hindi theatre, she says, "I have always been a part of Marathi theatre."

So isn't she bored of always playing the mother in TV serials, plays as well as movies? She quips, "I have stopped thinking about it. I don't mind playing the role of a mother, as long as the character has something substantial to offer."
