Self-taught artist Tripti Gupta's soot paintings are made by moving paper over a flame, sans paint, brush, pencil and other art tools
Tripti Gupta works differently. This artist, who developed soot paintings in 1998, believes in going the distance. She creates soot paintings by skillfully moving paper or canvas over a flame.
This art doesn't use paints, brushes, pencil, charcoal and any other art tool. Through this stunning form, she is able to create realistic work in shades of sepia, grey, black and yellow.
A high degree of precision is needed as the painting could be consumed by fire. She has even entered the Limca Book of Records for this innovation.
