Who: Rihanna
What: Curly hair bangs
Women with curly hair might think bangs are an absolute no-no. But if done right, curly bangs can look super sexy. Typically, the hair needs to be textured or layered for the bangs to work their magic.
Expert speak: Hairstylist Riddhi Doshi believes that though it's easy to go wrong with curly hair, women with should be open to experimentation. "Curls on the forehead provide a lot of movement," she says. "But you need to apply a tinge of gloss or a leave-in conditioner to prevent frizz and the hair from going vertical instead of sitting pretty on the forehead."

Who:u00a0 Bipasha Basu
What: Side-swept bangs
With hair brushed to the side of the forehead, this style falls heavy on one side of your face and can go from light and wispy to sleek and formal. It usually suits oblong and oval faces better, though some stylists would argue that they flatter any facial structure since they frame the face beautifully and take attention away from a high forehead and fine lines.
Expert speak: Celeb hairstylist Sapna Bhavnani says, "This is the hair style that is most in demand at my salon. 90% of my women clients bring along Bipasha's picture and ask for the same cut."

Who: Sandra bullock
What: Blunt bangs
The Blind Side actress rocked (and shocked) this look at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards. Usually worn just above the eyebrows (or higher like singer Katy Perry's), blunt bangs are cut straight across from side to side and work well with very long, straight hair.
Expert speak: "This style is slightly more high-maintenance by virtue of its solid structure," says Shimsha Shetty, salon director of b:blunt Bandra. "Blunt bangs on curly hair have to blowdried every day. These work best on longish or oval faces, and can dramatically accentuate the cheekbones."

Who: Genelia D'Souza
What: Side-parted bangs
A modified version of blunt bangs, side-parted bangs can be combined with different hairstyles to make for interesting results. They can go from straight to wavy to even wispy or wild. They highlight your eyes and work well on any length of hair.
Expert speak: "A slightly graduated fringe like this one builds up weight on the face," says Shimsha Shetty. "We recommend it to clients who have fine hair, as it provides the illusion of a fuller top. It also works well for people with smaller faces."

Who: Alexa Chung
What: Centre-parted bangs

One of the hottest trends in the '70s, these bangs worked beautifully for British model Alexa Chung at the screening of Sleeping Beauty at the Cannes Film Festival, earlier this month. The parting opens up the face, highlights the eyes, and is perfect for someone growing out her bangs or who doesn't want a very dramatic look.
Expert talk: "A centre-parted fringe divides the face into two halves, and so can go really wrong for people with round or square faces," says Shimsha. "It's not a personal favourite, but can look good on a longish face."
