Shoe shopping by the book

The Guide helps you choose the right shoes for the occasion with help from actress kalki koechlin and stylist Manisha Nihalani

With the movie That Girl in Yellow Boots releasing this week, actress Kalki Koechlin gives her list of shoes one must have in their footwear collection. Though Kalki is not a shopaholic, she loves picking up stuff she likes when she feels the need to. "I do not like shopping. But I do pick up shoes when I am travelling. Like for this film, we picked up the yellow boots from a random store during our shoot. I love them," shared the actress, who sports the same boots in the film.



Happy Feet
During her recent visit to the city, Kalki wore a cute pair of peach chappals. Wardrobe stylist, Manisha Nihalani, gives it a thumbs up, but thinks that this look is perfect for the summer. "The look is casual and peppy, but you can flaunt this look only in the summer. These sandals are a fine number and can be shopped for at brands like Aldo and Charles Keith."

The shoes that are in vogue include sandals with quirky designs. According to Manisha, United Colours of Benetton have these flats with quirky designs. "Quirky designs on shoes and sandals is something you can sport this season. You can find plain sandals with rose petals embellished on it. Even Ballerinas have small prints and motifs on them. You can also go for pumps and team it up with a nice dress. It looks pretty and sporty for day wear."

Brands like Zara are a good place to shop for high heels and peep toe sandals. Manisha suggests you go for four inch heels and classy boots.

Colour me bright
Gone are the days when only black and white ruled your wardrobe. According to Manisha, today bold colours are hitting the roads. "People are wearing shoes in colours such as purple, green, yellow, camel tan and more. You can try them out on a subdued outfit. They look classy and are fun too."

Kalki jots down five must haves:
Chappals: They are comfortable and go with everything you wear. Kolhapuri chappals enhance your wardrobe. Pair them with jeans or Indian wear as they look classy and traditional.
Canvas shoes: These never go out of style. A pair of Converse shoes is a must-have. They are comfortable and are available in various colours. Mix and match them with your outfits and sport that casual look.
High heels: They complement your feet. Choose your heels according to your comfort level. Go for something that compliments your personality and the dress you will wear.
Boots: I love the yellow boots I got. I kept it for myself post the shoot. Every girl should flaunt boots. They are cool and look classy.
