Lovers of classical western music can head to Mazda Hall where the Poona Music Society will be hosting a flute and piano recital by Jonathan Bager and Kristinn Orn Kristinsson. It is being organised as a part of Conbrio - the John Gomes Memorial Piano competition and festival.
Bager played an active part in Reykjavik's (Iceland) busy musical life, dividing his time between symphony orchestra, opera orchestra, ensemble and recital work, as well as flute teaching in local music schools.
Bager has been a frequent visitor to Pune over the last few years and is currently on a nine month assignment for an international bank. "I am delighted to perform with my friend Kristinn and to take part in the prestigious Poona Music Society 2012 concert series."
Kristinsson completed his studies and worked as a professor of piano at the Akureyri Music School. Shortly after moving to Reykjavik in 1990, he became the official accompanist at the ReykjavÃk College of Music. He has co-founded the Allegro Suzuki Music School of Reykjavik, of which today he is a director. He is also an accompanist at the ReykjavÃk Academy of Singing and Vocal Arts.
Kristinsson has, for many years, been active as a chamber musician both in recitals and recordings. He is a certified teacher trainer in the Suzuki Method of teaching music and has published a book on the subject. He recently founded a concert series in Iceland dedicated to giving performing opportunities to young musicians.
