The latest range of Wistiki devices (Collections 2016) are designed by Philippe Starck, the man who designed Steve Jobs' yacht. Available in three different models - aha! (an oval device), voila! (resembles a USB) and hoopla! (a card shaped device) - they can be ordered on Indiegogo.com for $29 each.
Is it a GPS tag? Not really, but works a lot like it. The device has a Bluetooth sensor, which tells the Wistiki app (available for free download for Android and iOS devices) to record its last location. The Bluetooth sensor has a range of 100 metres in line of sight and 30 metres otherwise. Once the Wistiki goes out of range, the app informs you of it. When in range, you can use your phone to ring the Wistiki attached with your keys, or jewellery or anything. And if you lose your phone, you can use the Wistiki to ring your phone.
The Witstiki is programmed to constantly search for a Wistiki app user, the moment it disconnects from the owner. And, as soon as it finds a Wistiki user, it will inform you of its location. This feature (called crowd GPS) helps you locate the tracker device across the world. But for it to be successful, you need not hundreds but thousands of active Wistiki users. Wistiki is also rain-proof, and its battery can easily last for three years. It is available in a host of colours.
