A 1080p display and fantastic build on a budget smartphone makes this a smart buy

The Lemon Aspire Full HD (also known as the Lemon A4) is one smartphone that has truly impressed us with its display and build. "Wow!" is the first thing that you will say when you see the smartphone for the first time.u00a0It is really slim, light and feels comfortable to hold. Even though the back is plastic, it has a nice finish to it. The smartphone has a steel border around it, very reminiscent of the iPhone 4 adding to its beautiful design.

The 5-inch display on the smartphone is full HD, which means that you will have a great time playing games and watching 1080p movies on it. The viewing angles of the display are wide, its colour reproduction good, and the overall screen is nice and vibrant as well, especially if you use the smartphone on full brightness.

Coming to the user interface, the smartphone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and there is no skin overlaying the OS. This is a good thing making the smartphone accessible to all without any bloatware.

The Lemon A4 does comes with a bunch of preloaded apps including Cosmopolitan magazine, Hungama, mobile security, Mireo via GPS, safe browser, Paytm, and a bunch of games such as Fly Boy (trial version) and TurboFly 3D. There are also a bunch of Lemon specific apps on the smartphone. The Lemon Care app opens up the Lemon website in a browser and gives you access to service centres where you can go to repair any problem you have with the device.

Next up we have Lemon Live, which gives users access to employment news, jokes, love tips, art of living, and more. All these services are available for Rs 30 per month. Lemon Zone takes you to a page where you can download videos, wallpapers, ringtones and more.

The camera on the Aspire A4 is good. In daytime and well-lit conditions, the images are rich, and retain their details. In low-lit conditions, there is a bit of loss of details and the images do appear a bit noisy, but the quality is acceptable nonetheless. The Lemon A4 has enough battery life to sustain a day of average use.

Overall, the Lemon Aspire A4 Full HD is a good phone if you are looking for rugged build and a great display on a smartphone priced under R20,000. Its only drawback is that it lags a bit during heavy multitasking and Real Racing 3 and some other graphically heavy games didn't run well on the smartphone.
