Watch singer-songwriter Alex Rintu perform an original set of blues-pop music, with his band tonight at Swig
When you browse through his profile on the internet, you read, "When you hear him on the electric guitar, he gives you the semblance of old school rockers like Jeff Beck and every time he renders the acoustic guitar, shades of Martin sexton is evident". But there's more to singer-songwriter Alex Rintu than just this comparison. As an Indian musician, Rintu's compositions are strong on melody and lyrics with the right feel of Blues
and Pop.
Originally from Kerala, Rintu has been a session guitarist for the past four years, and it's only been a year since he moved to Mumbai, and started performing with his band. And today, he is here to perform an electric set with his band that features Crosby Fernandes (from the band Paravayu) on bass and Angelo Picardo on drums.
The live set will include originals by Rintu. He has around 10 to 15 originals songs, which will be interspersed with covers to lighten the mood at the gig.u00a0 "My songwriting is more on the melodic side and when it comes to writing down lyrics, I give it a different treatment. The songs need to relate to the guitar parts and so on. I also write poetry, so I try and fit them into a song structure," he shares.
Rintu will soon be heading to Berlin for the Pop-Komm music and business event. "It's more of a B2B event and we won't be performing live to an audience. The idea of the festival is to help musicians get contracts and introduce them to labels. I am happy that I will be representing India," he concludes.
