Akitaa Bhattacharjee was voted best yodeller by netizens worldwide after she was tutored by Shankar Mahadevan at a walk-in yodelling contest. She tells FYI why the bathroom is better than a studio, andu00a0which politicians should lighten up
Mohammad Rafi and Kishoreda would've been pleased. While singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan was teaching the age-old art of yodelling at Yahoo's Yodel Studio in Mumbai, a petite 20 year-old walked in, only to win the mentor's heart in minutes. She was voted the winner of the contest by netizens worldwide. FYI caught up with Akitaa for a chat.
Bathroom or bedroomu00a0-- where should yodellers practice?
Bathroom, because it provides the perfect echo and audio settings.
Where do you practice?
The bathroom. And also while driving, cooking, reading. I practice anywhere, actually.
Do your neighbours complain?
No. In fact, they are proud I won.

Other than singers, who should take up yodelling?
Politicians. It can help them cool down. Sanjay Nirupam always looks so serious.u00a0

Who would you sing, and not sing for?
I would love to lend my voice to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Vishal-Shekhar, but not Himesh Reshammiya.
Can Himesh be a good yodeller?
I think he already is. The pitch at which he sings, is very apt for yodelling.
