While you are struggling with last minute preparations for the HSC and CBSE exams, and spending sleepless nights too, we thought of cheering you up with some simple tips to stay fit, and focused during the exam time

The month of March marks the beginning of board exams. While you are struggling with last minute preparations, spending sleepless nights and turning pages after pages of their year-long study materials, we thought of cheering you up with some simple tips to stay fit, and focused during the exam time. Take a look below:

1. Do workouts on study breaks: Regular exercise should not be ignored at the time of exams. Take breaks in between exam preparation and do light intensity routine exercise like cardio and stretches. This will increase blood circulation, boost energy, reduce stress, make you feel fresh and lead to a rise in productivity.

2. Go for a morning walk: Heading for a morning walk is the best way to start your day. Even if you are buried under exam pressure, do not forget to go outdoors and walk under the open sky. You can even jog for 15-20 minutes to make a healthy start to the day. Morning walk or jogging outdoors will keep you pumped up for rest of the day.

3. Eat light and healthy food: Your diet should be taken care of during exams. Keep yourself away from food items like biryani, pizzas, or any form of junk and heavy food. Stick to healthy wholegrain food like whole-wheat pasta, oatmeal, brown rice. Light meals like upma, soup, boiled eggs, chicken salads, and oat khidchi are good food options during exams. Include more of nuts, fruits and vegetables on your platter during exam time.

4. Take small meals at regular intervals: Do not focus on heavy meals at one time. Rather focus on small meals at frequent intervals. For example you can have fish curry, half bowl daal, green salad and little bit rice for lunch and again after 3-4 hours go for handful of nuts and fruits. Include items like soup or sandwich in evening snacks and opt for a light dinner after 2-3 hours.

5. Increase liquid intake: Along with water intake, also increase intake of other liquids like coconut water and fresh fruit juice. However, keep yourself away from canned juices, aerated drinks, and soda or any sugary drinks. Alcohol is a strict no during exam. You can drink tea, preferably green tea, but reduce caffeine intake. Adequate liquid intake will keep you hydrated during exams.

6. Get adequate sleep: Studying throughout day and night without proper sleep results in dizziness, dullness and irritability. Proper sleep helps proper functioning of the brain and increases your focus towards studies. Sleep for at least 6-7 hours to stay energized and boost your immune system.

7. Plan the day's routine beforehand: A good planning leads to better results. Plan your study hours, workout plans, meal timings and sleep hours.

8. Ease your mind: Relax, de-stress and keep your mind away from the exam pressure. Concentrate on studies and do not think of results. Also, do not over-burden yourself with study notes. Take breaks, go out in the fresh air, and throw away the exam stress. Keep away mobiles and laptops to de-stress yourself. Also, try to switch off all the lights before going for a nap.

Eat right, sleep well, study smart, stay fit and you will surely rock the show. Good luck!
