'My parents want me to get married'

11 April,2013 12:08 AM IST |   |  Dear Diana

Dear Diana, I'm 26 and working in a private sector. I belong to an orthodox family and my parents are both above 65.

They are insisting that I get married to a girl from our community. But I don't want to. In fact, I've got a girlfriend who doesn't belong to our caste. So I don't know how to deal with the whole situation. I love my parents dearly and I'm their only child. I can't afford to lose their trust but at the same time, I'm going strong with this girl I'm in love with. Should I tell my parents that I will settle down later but with the girl of my choice?

Dear Danish,
I can understand your situation but you need to comprehend your parents viewpoint too. They are growing older and as you are their only child, they have their concerns. You need to tell them about the girl in your life. As they are clueless, they are hunting for a suitable match for you. If you tell them, they will stop doing so. So the faster you speak up, it will be better for you.u00a0

Diana will solve it!
