A global sex survey has revealed that over 60 percent of Brits prefer lovemaking in the dark

The stereotype of the English being sexually repressed has been reinforced by the poll which showsu00a0overu00a0sixty per cent of UK residents reach for the light switch when they are turned on.

"The age-old image of the British wanting the lights out is once again turning out to be a truism," the Daily Mail quoted a spokesperson from underwear firm Bjorn Borg which commissioned the study, as saying.

Almost one fifth - 18 per cent - of those who responded said they did it in the dark because they didn't think they were attractive to their partner undressed.

The survey showed the 26 per cent of UK men ask for the lights to be off before lovemaking can begin.

But 47 per cent of Britons did say that their favourite thing to do in the dark was to 'get sexy' with someone.

In total, 60 per cent of Britons said they turn the lights off before they get to bed or 'when my mate is ready for action.'

The survey, conducted by former Wimbledon ace Bjorn Borg's Swedish underwear firm, included Sweden, England, the U.S, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Holland and China.
