Dear Diana,
A couple of weeks ago, a new girl moved in as a paying guest in the neighbouring flat. I fell in love with her at first sight. I see her irregularly, sometimes in the lift or in the passage. I keep tabs on her movements. Over the weekend, I introduced myself as a neighbour as I bumped into her in the lift. Her reaction to me was polite. I think about her all the time but I don't want her to know that I am wooing her. What should the next step be?

Dear Jai,
Are you in love with her or are you stalking her? What if she knows you are stalking her, it will be one scary situation for her. Thinking about someone all the time, counting the number of times you see them in a week, counting the number of days since you saw them last are all symptoms of obsessive, not loving behaviour. It is always worth remembering that you can become obsessed immediately, and yet you can grow to love someone over time and through shared experiences. And, how do you know she is interested in you? She may already have a boyfriend. Go slow, and first befriend her by being the good, helpful neighbour.
