My fiance has a fear of flying

The only thing my fiance and I argue about is travelling in a plane. It may sound strange but it is a matter of great concern for me. My guy has a fear of flying

Dear Diana,
The only thing my fiance and I argue about is travelling in a plane. It may sound strange but it is a matter of great concern for me. My guy has a fear of flying. He won't go on a plane as he has a phobia. When he was a kid, his neighbours had passed away in an aircrash so that thought is still stuck. So I compromised. He prefers to take the train or travel by road. I can accept that because I have already been to a lot of places with my folks. But for our honeymoon I always dreamt of a place like Mauritius or Maldives. But he says he will not fly and we can't swim there! He is just not willing to compromise. This set me thinking that even in the future we can never travel to a place far off. What do I do?

Dear Raheela,
Many people suffer from various phobias and live with it throughout their lives. To the rest of us it may sound strange, and even funny but for them it is a matter of serious concern. Perhaps if you know an airline crew member who literally lives in the plane because of the job, he/she can explain to him. If his fears are of an extreme nature, you might need to consult a psychologist. For starters take a short flight like Mumbai-Pune or Mumbai- Panaji in a big group. Once he has travelled in an aircraft, all his fears will be put to rest. But getting him on board will be tough. Persuade him but don't force him. Let him take his time. Meanwhile plan vacations via the road and rail routes.

My kid is fussy with food

Dear Diana,

I have a nine-year-old son. He is such a fussy eater and barely eats anything. My wife thinks that there is nothing wrongu00a0 and that he will overcome it. What should I do?u00a0 The problem is when we are out, he just refuses to eat.

Dear SN,
I can understand your predicament especially when you are out, as he just refuses to eat! There are several children who have a eating problem. You need to make food interesting for him and not force it down his throat. Introduce him to different cuisines and see what he likes instead of giving him the same stuff. If it is a major issue, as he is already nine, seek medical help.

Should I get back with my ex?

Dear Diana,

My guy and I are both 20 years old. Three months back we decided to break up as we would have constant fights over silly issues. Now a close buddy of his tells me he still pines for me. All this while I was sure that I wanted to move away from him but now I am having second thoughts. Whenever I see him around, I am in a happy state of mind and now eager to strike a conversation with him. Should I reconnect with him?

Dear Friend,
How well do you know this friend and do you trust him? Be sure that he is not creating any mischief between you and your ex. It is best to strike a conversation and get things cleared. Your guy may have confided in the friend. So now you need to ask him. If he says yes, think with an open mind whether you want to get back together. You need to talk things out as history should not repeat itself and both of you shouldn't start fighting again. First get the clear picture on where he stands and then accordingly make the next move. If you both are comfortable, then thetre is no harm in giving it another shot.
