My school friend rejected my Facebook request

29 August,2012 07:14 AM IST |   |  Dear Diana

Dear Diana, I'm a 29-year-old married woman who is not net savvy at all. I recently got introduced to the world of social media and I'm perplexed by the level of connectivity it ensures.

But at the same time, I'm disappointed that a friend of mine from our school days didn't accept my friend request on Facebook. I don't know why she did that given the fact that we were really close once upon a time. I even left her a message introducing myself just in case she didn't recognise my face on display picture. Despite all these attempts, she simply rejected my request twice. Now I'm depressed trying to gauge why she would do such a thing to me.

Dear Saavli,
It is clear that she does not want you. Some people like to keep their Facebook pages to just very close pals and family. I know someone who only has a Facebook account for professional reasons and doesn't take requests from anyone outside his profession. Why don't you try sending her a message asking if you could get her email instead? May be then you can recollect some school memories to jog her memory. It's almost 15 years since you passed out of school, so perhaps she does not remember you. You could also send her a request again and if she doesn't accept, then forget her. Remember there are better friends out there.
