About 62 percent of the total respondents said South Africa needs to make more efforts to strengthen the fight against HIV/AIDS.
The survey was based on polls run on the foundation''s YoungAfricaLive mobile platform.
"Since our launch, YoungAfricaLive has grown to become South Africa''s largest mobile community for young people to talk to each other and educate themselves about sex, love and relationships," the News24 quoted the founder Gustav Praekelt, as saying.
The content editor of YoungAfricaLive, Tamsen de Beer, said that the survey was a barometer of South African youth''s sentiment around love and sexual health.
Of the 138 954 young people who took part in the study, 44 percent said they were sexually active, and 66 percent would not consider having sex after drinking.
