Rath Yatra, Puri
The Rath Yatra or the Car Festival, is an important celebration held in Puri on June 29. On this day, the idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Subhadra are taken out in a procession to Gundicha Temple and they remain there for nine days before their return on July 7, which is called Bahuda Jatra. This festival draws millions of devotees from diverse places.

Hemis Festival, Leh
The two-day Hemis Festival takes place annually at the Hemis monastery in Leh. It observes the birth of Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism. A major highlight of the celebrations is the resident lamas performing sacred masked dances accompanied by music created with drums, cymbals and long horns, in the monastery courtyard.
