Spend your Saturday putting colour on canvas as you sip on wine and dig into gourmet eats

Painting parties are as much about socialising as they are about painting

If you're looking for a constructive way to spend an otherwise lazy Saturday, head to TAG (The Amateur Gallery) in Lower Parel for an afternoon of wine, food and... painting.

TAG, an art gallery that houses a restaurant, in collaboration with Doodle Draw, is organising a painting party for the first time. The event is open to those over 18 years, and being good at art isn't a prerequisite.

Anchal Bansal, co-founder of Doodle Draw, says, "Many adults believe they can't draw or paint. Our aim is to get people to stop thinking that way. We will guide you on how to make a painting, from beginning to end."

She adds that all the participants will create their version of a painting that has been picked out for the event. "Even though it's the same picture, you will find that every person interprets it differently. Moreover, we will show you how you can paint using not just a brush, but also with a knife and a toothbrush."

While painting, you can sip on a glass of luscious wine, and vegetarian fare from the in-house kitchen.

Natasha Gowani, founder-director at TAG, says that the aim of the space is to make art accessible to all. "Art galleries are seen as intimidating. But, art is not about staring at a wall. With these kind of events, where people can participate in the making of art, we're giving the whole experience another dimension."
