Girish Gogia became 90 per cent paralysed after a diving accident in Goa. Today, this Mumbai resident is a wheelchair user, but has never missed an opportunity to vote, being carried by a team of people to the poll booth
That is what really counts in the end. The happiest nations do not necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes their way.
Girish Gogia is mid-day's election ambassador
Indians, most of whom consider themselves victims of bad leadership and a corrupt system, will remain victims unless they develop a greater vision for their lives and vote for the nation.
We cannot always control circumstances, but we do have the power to change India's destiny by exercising our fundamental right to vote. India is not what happens to it. India is what it chooses to become.
Perhaps, sometimes one has to experience the darkness before one can appreciate the light. Recognising and talking about our problems is not a weakness. Doing nothing about them is. Let us do something today that our future will thank us for. Let us participate in the largest festival of democracy.
If he can, why can't you? Vote!
