As Saturday marked the beginning of the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray along with wife Rashmi Thackeray and children - Aaditya and Tejas Thackeray offered prayers to Lord Ganesha at his residence Varsha in South Mumbai. Taking to Twitter, Thackeray also wished everyone a happy Ganesh Chaturthi.
Keeping up with the health advisories, Uddhav Thackeray and his family members were seen wearing masks while they performed the 'aarti'. Aaditya Thackeray took to Instagram and shared a picture of the Ganpati celebrations.
Business tycoon Anil Ambani and his wife Tina Ambani also welcomed Lord Ganesha with religious fervour. Posing with husband Anil, Tina Ambani shared pictures of Ganpati idol at her home and said, "You are Vignaharta, destroyer of all evils and obstacles. O Lord of new beginnings, we seek your blessings to tide over these testing times, deliver us from our troubles, and restore good health to humanity and balance to the world. Jai Ganesha!"
BJP leader Poonam Mahajan also ushered into the festive mood by bringing the idol of Lord Ganesha home on Saturday, following advisories and adhering to safety guidelines. Poonam shared an adorable picture in which her children - son Aadya and daughter Avika - can be seen posing with the idol.
BJP leader and former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis also welcomed Lord Ganesha amidst chants of 'Ganpati Bappa Morya'! Fadnavis took to social media to extend greetings and celebrated the auspicious occasion with his family and friends. With his wife Amruta and daughter Divija, Fadnavis performed the Ganesh Sthapna Pujan.
Congress leader Milind Deora had a unique Ganpati celebration at his home in South Mumbai. Deora's daughter created a Ganpati idol using a very unusual material - Lego. Deora took to Twitter to share the beautiful creation and said, "My 2.5-year-old daughter's Lego tribute to Lord Ganesha." Not only did it struck a chord with netizens but it also left business tycoon Harsh Goenka impressed, who commented, "Excellent" on the post.
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut took to Twitter to offer a glimpse of Ganpati idol at his home. In the picture shared by Raut, many lamps can be seen lit around the idol. While sharing the picture Raut captioned it: Ganpati Bappa Moraya!
Congress leader Priya Dutt too posted a picture of Ganpati idol at his residence. While sharing the picture, Dutt wished everyone a Happy Ganesh Chaturthi. She captioned her post: May lord Ganesha Bring light to dispel the darkness and bless us all with Good Health and Happiness.
Bengali actress-turned-politician Mimi Chakraborty shared a beautiful picture where she is seen performing aarti of the idol of Lord Ganesha. Donning traditional wear for the festive occasion, the Trinamool Congress MP captioned the picture, "Ganpati Bappa Moraya!"
Masterchef India Season 6 finalist Chef Akanksha Khatri shared this stunning picture where she can be seen offering a variety of modaks to the idol of Lord Ganesha. While sharing the simple yet sweet picture, Akanksha wrote, "May Lord Ganesha bless all of you with good health, happiness, prosperity and good fortune."
Sharad Pawar's grandnephew Rohit Pawar also took to Instagram to share pictures of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at his residence. The Karjat-Jamkhed MLA was seen performing aarti and offering prayers to Lord Ganesha with his wife and children. Sharing the pictures, Pawar said, "We sought blessings of 'Vignahartha' for the well-being of Covid19 warriors, family members, and people all across."
Mumbai-based chef Natasha Gandhi shared a video where she was seen making 'Ragi Ukadiche Modak' on the arrival of Lord Ganesha at her place. Not only did Natasha make the modaks but also shared the recipe of the healthy sweet that one could offer to their Bappa. While sharing the video, Natasha said, "This Ganeshotsav let's welcome Bappa by making his favourite sweet dish "Modak".
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar also welcomed Lord Ganesha with religious fervour. In the picture, mayor Kishori Pednekar was seen standing with folded hands next to the idol as she extended greetings for Ganesh Chaturthi. She was also seen assisting people on the visarjan day of 1.5-day-old Ganpati idols at artificial ponds created by the BMC.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also celebrated the festival with his family at home. In the pictures shared by him, Sawant can be seen offering prayers to Lord Ganesha at his hometown in Kothambi near Pale village. While extending greetings for the festival, Sawant said, "Prayed to Lord Ganesha for the prosperity and wellbeing of all Goans."
Former Maharashtra CM Narayan Rane and his son Nitesh Rane also celebrated the festival following the guidelines issued by the state government in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nilesh Rane shared a picture where he is seen offering prayers to Lord Ganesha while donning the face mask.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and his wife Usha Naidu also welcomed Lord Ganesha by offering prayers at their official residence in New Delhi. Sharing the picture on his official Twitter handle, Naidu extended greetings for Ganesh Chaturthi and wrote, "Ganpati Bappa Morya".
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari along with his wife, children and grandchildren welcomed home Ganpati Bappa. While extending greetings, Gadkari shared a video where the entire family is seen performing aarti and offering prayers to the elephant-headed god.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami welcomed Ganpati at his home while taking all the safety precautions to celebrate the festival. Dressed in a white shirt and dhoti, Palaniswami was seen performing aarti while donning a face mask. He offered prayers to Lord Ganesha along with his wife at his residence in Salem.
