A new all-day cafe in Prabhadevi opens up a new option for good coffee and quiet conversations in a sunshine-y space

Go and grab a cappuccino at Vision Café, a brand new coffee chain at Prabhadevi. Inspired by messages of love, peace and knowledge spread by inspiring leaders like Rabindranath Tagore, Saint Teresa and Albert Einstein, this cafe will launch, aptly enough, on the day we celebrate the birth of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
At a time when coffee shops are strewn around every corner of the city, Brian Miranda, operations head of Khan Hospitality, the company behind Vision Café, feels that they will stand out because of the sheer taste of their coffee blends. Vision Café has tied up with Illy, a Italian brand that is available at most five-star establishments, but not the neighbourhood coffee shop. "We wanted to make it accessible to all," he said.
The cafe offers a sense of space and sunshine; long windows line its walls, giving it an open, airy feel. The interiors are muted, with the dominant palettes being beige and grey; the flooring is wooden, and there is a specially-designed wooden tiled counter. There are a few love seats and high chairs, as well as the regular sofa and chairs, and can seat up to 28 people.
Vision Cafe has a huge range of coffees, both hot and cold. Some interesting flavours include the Ginger Cookie Cold Coffee ('150), Espresso Tiramisu ('185) and the Cappuccino Viennese ('120). Miranda revealed that the food menu, while not extensive, was well thought out and catered to the corporate fraternity and youth. It features breakfast items like eggs and waffles, as well as an all-day dining menu consisting of pastas, sandwiches and salads.
Over the next few years, Vision Café aims to become a chain spreading its lofty message across the country. This message can be found in small and tasteful touches around the café; on the backs of the chairs that carry inspirational quotes, the rims of coffee cups, and on saucers. There is also a board to pin your message of peace every time you pop in for a cuppa.
