Nankhatai biscuit
Travel and food go hand in hand and it is often during journeys that you come across food items that take you back to childhood. One of them is the humble Nankhatai biscuit. We came across a jar of this happiness at a Parsi joint called Hotel Ahura while travelling by road to Gujarat.
Located on NH 8, 14 km after Charoti toll booth while driving towards Surat, it falls under Dahanu taluka of Palghar district. They serve authentic Parsi dishes like kheema paav, bun maska and chai, and kheema par eedoo salli boti, patra ni macchi and chicken dhansak. A section near the billing counter stocks jars filled with the lip-smacking biscuits we are recommending today.
Of the varieties on offer, the two flavours that we liked were the jam nankhatai, and oats walnut cookies. A jar of the former comes at Rs 50, while the walnut variant costs Rs 110 per jar. Boxes of assorted biscuits, and cakes, khari biscuits, rusk biscuits, breads and Parsi masalas are also available. The box of mixed biscuits makes for an ideal gift.
