Stop One: JJ Jalebi
This sweet shop started in 1947. Unlike others who make malpuas only during Ramzan, JJ Jalebi serves them throughout the year and takes bulk as well as party orders. They have outlets in Kurla and Jogeshwari as well.
On offer: Their range of malpuas includes Dry Fruit Malpua (Rs 200), Sada Malpua (Rs 10- Rs 160), Rabri Malpua (Rs 180), Chocolate Malpua (Rs 140) as well as Mango, Strawberry, and Blackcurrant Malpua (Rs 140), which have the essence of the fruit.
Celeb quotient: Celebrities like actors Salman Khan, Dilip Kumar and Hrithik Roshan, actress Rekha, cricketers Saeed Anwar and Inzamam-ul-Haq have visited the eatery in the past.

Stop two: Tawakkal Sweets
The 50-year-old Tawakkal Sweets started as a small shop where sweets were made and sold. Over the years, they have been famous for their Malpua and Phirni made exclusively for the month of Ramzan.

On offer: They make Eggless Malpua (Rs 300 per kg) which can be enjoyed by vegetarians. They also offer Single Egg Malpua (Rs 100) and Double Egg Malpua (Rs 140). Another special feature is that they use the rather expensive desi eggs, which make the malpuas softer and richer in taste. They serve the malpuas with malai cream instead of rabdi. Also, try their Phirni available in mango, classic and saffron (kesar) flavours.
Celeb quotient: Celebrities like actress Kangana Ranaut and Huma Qureshi as well as restaurateur Riyaz Amlani have visited the shop.

Stop three: Suleman Usman Mithaiwala
Sweetmeat shop Suleman Usman Mithaiwala was started by Sulemanbhai, a bakery assistant from Pune, in 1936. They are renowned for their Malpua made only during the month of Ramzan. The Malpua, a sort of pancake, is made from a dough of semolina (rawa), refined flour (maida), eggs and dry fruit. If you are wondering about why their particular malpuas taste so good, keep on wondering for it's a well-kept secret.
On offer: Single Egg Malpua (Rs 100), Double Egg Malpua (Rs 120) and Dry Fruit Malpua (Rs 150) made using pistachios and nuts, among other ingredients. You can also try their Phirni and Kaju biscuits from their nearby bakery (on Mohammed Ali Road).

Suleman Mithaiwala started in 1989 and emphasises that fresh milk, dry fruits and other products used to prepare the sweets are responsible for their popularity.

On offer: They serve Single Malpua, Double Malpua with Mawa, Double Malpua with Mawa and Dry Fruit as well as Eggless Malpua (all priced between Rs 80 to Rs 150).
