If you're walking by the lane opposite hotel Ramada Palm Grove in Juhu, you might be drawn towards the inviting aroma of freshly baked cookies and pastries. It's tough to miss a pink logo reminiscent of another city eatery. This, however, is Sassy Teaspoon, a new patisserie by Rachel Goenka and Irfan Pabaney. As we step in, we realise that a foodie in a pastry shop can feel exactly like a kid in a candy shop! We are spoilt for choice.

The glass jars filled with cookies, the rows of neatly lined pastries and a menu listing the ice creams on offer leave a fuzzy feeling in our heart. The interiors fit the mood too. The pretty pink-and-white interiors remind us of an Alice in Wonderland-themed tea party. The space offers a cute seating area but we chose takeaway. The tiles grab our attention too; its marbling effect sources itself from the marbling done on cakes and chocolates. Smart touch.
On display were cakes, sugar free indulgences, cupcakes, tarts, brownies, éclairs, profiteroles, cookies, macaroons, teacakes, breads, lavaash and homemade ice creams. Many of the savoury croissants had been polished off already by the time we stepped into the bakery late in the evening. We picked the Peanut Butter Blondie (Rs 120) a soft creamy snickerish pastry, which has the super power to uplift the mood within a few seconds.
The Salted Caramel Brownie (Rs 150) and the Lemon Meringue Tart (Rs 110) were both average and things we've had better versions of in the past. Not too sure of what to pick next, we tried the Spiked Tart (Rs 110. The crisp biscuit-like base and chocolate doused in alcohol is something you just can't get enough of. With one point more than the Spiked Tart, the winner for your sweet indulgence was Caramel and Chocolate Mousse Profiterole (Rs 100).
Not too sweet, just fresh and flaky the profiterole rekindled the sense of romance that we first felt when we walked in to the patisserie. Just as we prepared to leave, the manager called out to us saying, "Have you tried any of our cookies ma'am? You'll love them!" We fell for the bait, and took the Chocolate Chip Cookie he held out in his hand. And that's how the cookie fan crumbles.
