BBQ Cheese Pasta
Loaded - The Dessert Bistro
Food: Yum
Service: Efficient
Ambiance: Warm
When we first heard of Loaded - The Dessert Bistro, a two-week old eatery located in a Bandra bylane, we looked them up on our smartphones to check out their menu. As ingredients like chocolate hazelnut spread, salted caramel sauce and blueberry preserves swam in front of our eyes, we had to literally come up for air, as we waited eagerly for the next morning to visit this bistro.
BBQ Cheese Pasta
Almost submerged into the basement, the bright, pastel yellow walls and vibrant blue seating made up for the grim exteriors. Greeting us warmly, the chef-cum-owner (Tripti Singh) made a dash for the kitchen as we called for our
king-size breakfast.
Candy and crepes
The eatery offers a variety of crepes, sandwiches (the sweet variety), waffles, milkshakes and milk slushies. Curious to taste a milky slush, we called for Cotton Candy (Rs 149). While we expected a bright pink drink, we were greeted with a mellow and thick white one. High on strawberry flavour and a tad too sweet, we missed the taste of candyfloss.
Red Velvet Crepe
While we're tired of the red velvet cupcake since we've had an overdose of it at city eateries, we were keen to try its crepe-version and called for the Red Velvet Crepe (Rs 137). Stuffed with chocolate brownies and milkmaid, the maroon crepe was topped with white chocolate shavings and came with vanilla ice cream. A bite, and we were in heaven! Soft and warm, the crepe was enriched with a chocolate-y flavour that blended into the milky stuffing. The ice cream added to the taste. A go-to indulgence on cheat days.
PBJ Waffles
The PBJ overload
Next, we settled for a PBJ Waffle (Rs 118). This version comprised a warm waffle hidden underneath heaps of dark chocolate shavings, peanut butter, blueberry preserve and banana slices. A tad too doughy, the waffle failed to impress and the banana slices marred the taste of rich blueberry preserve, peanut butter and chocolate shavings.
Cotton Candy
To relieve our palate from overdose of sweetness, we called for BBQ Cheese Pasta (Rs 169) from their limited savoury section. A bowl of macaroni cooked in the spicy barbeque sauce and loaded with melted cheese - this is just what we needed to beat those monsoon blues.
