Barbeque Grillers is the latest addition to the food fiestas of Andheri. But this one is unique in terms of their approach to the culinary business. It's a take-out only place, which means you won't find any seating inside. In fact, it's tough to even spot it from the outside, because the kitchen and set-up are tucked in a building sans any signage.
Barbeque Grillers has a basic menu with four categories: Chicken, Mutton, Fish and Vegetables that offers two to three choices in each category. They also serve all of this in two variations: Ready-To-Eat and Ready-To-Grill (in the later, you can bring home the marinated meat and cook it!). We tried the ready-to-eat option, and were lucky to get a complimentary Marinated Chicken (100 gm) to savour the 360-degree experience, with a diet cola (600 ml) thrown in as well! All dishes are served with salad, dips and garlic bread (served with cheesy dip).
The Chicken Drumsticks ('150) were delish. They were fall-off-the-bone tender with great skin. This brownish (and spot-on)-coloured chicken was yum, thanks to an overnight marinade and the spice-and-herb rub. This went well with the American BBQ Dip.
The Barbecue Prawns ('250) was a delicious herb-marinated grilled prawn offering. The secret to grilling shrimp is that if cooked too fast it gets overcooked and rubbery so timing is crucial. This one didn't disappoint and went well with the accompanying desi mustard tadka dip.
The Mutton Patty ('200) was coarse, filled with dried coriander, onion, garlic, salt, pepper and lemon zest. We missed a smattering of mint but that's just preference. The only grouse here is that it tasted a bit dry in delivery as opposed to hot off the grill option; likewise, this too was well complemented with the green chutney dip.
Finally, the Basa Fillet ('250) was nicely baked, until the fish was firm to the touch and the crust mixture was lightly brown. We loved the little touches of garlic and pesto added to it. Simple but effective! A taste enhancer (chilli flakes like chat masala) accompanied our order. It boded well for those who like that extra zing and spice in their food. The ideal grilling session, this!
