Pizza Salame Piccante
THERE are days when all that the mind and the stomach seek is comfort food. And when the solace of eating wholesome, often homely food meets a nuanced execution of a dish using A-grade ingredients by the chef, it's a winner of a meal. This has been the case on most of our visits to Sorrentina, including this one.
Espresso Martini
We sip on a smooth espresso martini (Rs 575) and weigh our options from a straightforward menu that tells you exactly what to expect from your dishes. Our first pick is an eggplant timballo (Rs 500) which we are tasting for the first time at the restaurant, and a pizza salame piccante(Rs 850), which is our all-time favourite. Loaded with spicy salami, the pizza base is perfect and this dish continues to remain one of our favourites on the menu. The timballo is served on a bed of a marinara sauce, which is bursting with flavours which perfectly complement the silken texture of the eggplant and mozzarella.

Cavatelli alla porcini
For our pasta dish, we pick a cavatelli alla porcini (Rs 900), which might sound simple, but it presents an emulsion of luxurious flavours of wild mushrooms, butter and truffle. A pricey dish we would say but the ingredients used are top-notch. We pick up a bag of fresh pasta to cook at home, which we feel is one of the biggest pluses of the restaurant being located in a giant food store. The flavour of the truffles and the mushrooms lingers on our palate as we eye the chicken parmigiana (Rs 800) for our final dish. Sorrentina hits it out of the park with the final dish, a crispy parmesan and herb-crusted chicken breast served with indulgent parmesan fondue and a bright tomato sauce.
This is our fourth visit to the restaurant, and we end up trying and discovering a new dish on each visit, with no dish that lets us down. Sorrentina is an expensive dinner option, but the flavours and portions make it worth every rupee.
