An earlier session of star-gazing hosted by the organiser
Travel platform Adventure Geek that specialises in star-gazing and other experiences has found the perfect time for aspiring stargazers to look in the skies and spot stars and the planets. People have the chance to catch a glimpse of the Milky Way galaxy, Venus, Jupiter and its moons, and Saturn and its rings. The campsite is located at a secluded spot in Saphale that is accessible by private vehicles. The event hopes to be an ideal combination of camping and astronomy. "We have seen a lot of families come in for these events. The general curiosity in children takes flight and we are more than happy to provide them with a chance to experience one of the more fascinating aspects of the universe," says Vinay Gupta, founder of the group. They have been conducting this trip for almost five years now.
Campers can avail of the 10-inch Dobsonian Reflectors-Antares GSO & SKY Watcher and the Celestron Automated Mount for Astrophotography. Both of these as well as many binoculars and scopes are available at the campsite.
No prior knowledge in astronomy is expected from participants, as the trip includes introductory sessions on how to spot planets and galaxies through a telescope. Campers can also avail a basic understanding of general stargazing and astrophotography. "Our staff will be up all night to offer their expertise in using the telescope that we have provided for everyone to use and observe the night sky with us," shares Gupta.
