This season of The Crown has made us feel for the Queen in such a way that we hadn't felt before. The character, played brilliantly by Claire Foy, comes across as charming, strong, and oh-so-human. Our favourite episode was the one where the Queen is pitted against Jackie Kennedy. Another one deals with her sister, Princess Margaret's love affair with Anthony Armstrong-Jones (Mathew Goode is dishy, to say the least).

Partition, and the lives after
Among the many things that Gulzar's new novel, Two, will do to you, is make you experience the effects of the Partition on those who witnessed its horrors first-hand. The reader gets a short glimpse of the serene lives of the people of this city, before the Partition pits them against each other. While we would expect healing with time, all we get is a semblance of no resolution from the pain. The Partition, as we learn, continues to torment.

When art takes on politics
Recent works by Berlin-based Israeli filmmaker Yael Bartana are on view at Kala Ghoda's Max Mueller Bhavan. It is not often that we get to see, in our city, high-quality and though-provoking art that comments on politics, so 'pre-enactments' is worth a visit just for that. Two video installations depict the blurring of lines between fiction and reality, which, if you think about, is much the case with modern politics. The show is on till January 20.
